Hyderabad: The Chief Secretary of Telangana, A Santhi Kumari, has instructed officials to set up a Disaster Response Force in the state.
In a meeting at the Secretariat, she emphasized the importance of training personnel to be prepared for emergencies like floods, fires, and other disasters. The training for the first group of personnel is expected to begin in the first week of next month. The meeting also covered the need to purchase vehicles, rescue equipment, protective gear, and other essential tools for rescue operations.
The Director General of Fire Services, Nagi Reddy, shared information about Telangana’s preparedness. He mentioned that 10 teams from the Fire Department will be upgraded to State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) stations. These teams will receive the necessary equipment and training.
Additionally, 1,000 personnel from the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) battalions will also be trained. Each company of 100 personnel will be trained to the same standard as the Fire Department and will be on standby in key areas during emergencies. The meeting also discussed purchasing other required equipment for rescue efforts.
