The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has refused to grant political clearance for Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s planned official visit to the United States. The ministry communicated that “clearance from political angle is denied” for the proposed tour, which was scheduled to include visits to Boston and New York. As a result of this denial, the Chief Minister will now return directly to Hyderabad from London on August 23, cutting short his international tour that was aimed at establishing educational partnerships with leading global institutions.

Despite the setback to his personal travel plans, Revanth Reddy has directed the Telangana official delegation to proceed with the US tour as scheduled. The delegation has been instructed to continue negotiations and finalize proposed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and partnerships with prestigious American institutions. These include Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Northeastern University, and Virginia Tech. The Chief Minister emphasized that the mission’s objectives remain unchanged even in his absence.

The Chief Minister stated that his primary objective was to attract leading global educational institutions to Hyderabad and transform the city into a global knowledge and skills hub. This vision aligns with the state government’s broader plans to enhance educational infrastructure and create opportunities for students in Telangana. The partnerships being pursued are expected to bring world-class educational resources and expertise to the state, potentially benefiting thousands of students and contributing to the region’s economic development.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy will continue his scheduled engagements in the United Kingdom before returning to India. His itinerary in the UK includes meetings with representatives from Oxford University, Cambridge University, London School of Economics (LSE), London Business School, and other prominent educational institutions. These interactions are part of the same broader initiative to establish international academic collaborations and bring global educational standards to Telangana.
