Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will launch the distribution of one crore Indiramma sarees tomorrow, coinciding with Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The welfare initiative aims to benefit women across Telangana through a phased distribution approach.
The state government has announced a two-phase distribution plan after facing delays in saree production. The decision to split the process ensures systematic delivery to beneficiaries across both rural and urban areas.
Phase 1 of the distribution will focus exclusively on rural areas. The process begins tomorrow and will continue until December 9, which marks Telangana Thalli Formation Day. This phase prioritizes women in villages and gram panchayats across the state.
Phase 2 will cover urban areas and is scheduled from March 1 to March 8. The government has strategically planned this phase to conclude on International Women’s Day, highlighting the initiative’s focus on women’s welfare.
The production delays prompted the government to restructure the distribution timeline. Officials decided to proceed with available stock for rural distribution while completing production for the remaining sarees needed for urban areas.
The Indiramma saree scheme represents a significant welfare measure by the state government. The initiative targets women beneficiaries across Telangana, ensuring they receive quality sarees as part of the government’s social welfare commitments.
The choice of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary for the launch holds symbolic significance. The former Prime Minister’s birthday has been traditionally associated with women’s empowerment programs across the country.
Rural areas will receive priority in the first phase, with distribution mechanisms set up at the grassroots level. Local authorities and officials have been instructed to ensure smooth distribution without any delays or complications.
The urban phase scheduled for March aligns with International Women’s Day celebrations, creating a broader platform to highlight women’s welfare initiatives. The government expects to complete the entire distribution of one crore sarees by March 8.
Distribution centers are being established across districts to facilitate the process. Beneficiary lists have been prepared in advance to ensure eligible women receive their sarees during the designated periods.
