Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of Telangana announced that the state will introduce a solid budget, rather than just a superficial one. This statement was made during an informal interaction with the media at his residence.
Revanth explained that this new budget is simply an extension of the previous ‘vote on account.’ He criticized the Union government for not allocating necessary funds, which has had a negative impact on the state’s financial situation. According to him, if the Centre had provided the required funds, there would have been more clarity and support for development projects in Telangana.
He expressed disappointment over the Union Budget ignoring the state’s needs. Revanth highlighted that Telangana has nine districts considered the most backward based on various indicators, and these areas should have been prioritized for funding.
Revanth also touched upon the issue of liquor consumption, stating that high consumption levels indicate poverty in the region. He responded to a tweet by KTR, who mentioned that Telangana has received ‘a big zero’ in terms of funds over the past decade. Revanth suggested that this lack of support shows a clear coordination between the BJP and BRS parties.
Regarding the Musi Riverfront Development Project, Revanth clarified that the estimated Rs 1.5 lakh crore funds are not solely for the riverfront but for overall development across many parts of the city.
