Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar made a surprise visit to Gunjaluru village on Saturday. The visit was part of an inspection under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

In the village, farmers have been growing Azolla, a type of fodder used to feed livestock. The Collector visited an Azolla pond maintained by Pedapolu Jayamma, the wife of Vishnumurthy. He observed how Azolla helps improve milk production in cattle.

During the inspection, he learned that a single water trough can produce 2.5 kg of Azolla in seven days. If farmers use three troughs, they can generate up to 7.5 kg of fodder per week. He also visited cattle sheds built to protect livestock from heat and rain.
