Hyderabad: Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka criticized the BRS government...

KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, accused the Congress government of taking Rs 20,000 crore from the people of Telangana through LRS. He demanded that plots be regularised without any fees charged to the applicants. Rao called for a protest on March 6 at all district headquarters and GHMC.

During a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Rao mentioned the Congress party’s previous assurance that there would be no LRS fees and land regularisation would be free. He expressed concern over the silence of Congress ministers who had opposed LRS in the past. Rao questioned why Congress leaders like Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, Seethakka, Komatireddy, and Uttamkumar Reddy, who spoke against LRS during the BRS government, are now silent.

Rao pointed out that 25.44 lakh people who applied for LRS could face fees of at least Rs 1 lakh each if the Congress government does not keep its promise. He criticized the State government for forcing LRS applicants to pay their fees by March 31, likening it to “extracting blood from the populace.”

Rao played videos of Congress leaders criticizing LRS as a way to take money from the people. He specifically called out Bhatti Vikramraka and Uttam Kumar Reddy for their previous stance against LRS, demanding an explanation for their change in position.

Expressing frustration with Congress party leaders and ministers, Rao announced protest programs across the State on March 6. These programs will include dharnas in every constituency and special protests in Hyderabad, particularly at HMDA and GHMC offices. He warned the State government to declare that no charges would be collected under the LRS program, as promised by Congress.
