The Congress party in Telangana is waiting for more clarity on the “one nation one election” issue before announcing its list of candidates for the Assembly polls. If the Centre decides to hold partial “one nation one election” by combining the state elections with the scheduled Lok Sabha elections, the party may have to reconsider its candidate list. The Congress will wait for the Congress Working Committee meeting on September 16 before submitting their recommendations to the party high command. They also want to minimize backlash from aspirants who don’t receive a ticket.

The screening committee has not yet shortlisted the names due to this uncertainty. Former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that no decision regarding the candidates was made at a recent meeting. More consultations will take place before finalizing the list to be sent to the party high command.
