The PJ Kurien Committee is set to submit a report on why the Congress performed poorly in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Telangana to the party high command on July 21. Candidates, MLAs, and party leaders explained to the Committee that overconfidence and poor coordination were factors in losing some MP seats despite the party’s strength.

After meeting with party leaders, the three-member Committee concluded that the Congress struggled in the elections due to various reasons. Contestants mentioned how the BRS shifting its vote bank to the BJP affected the party’s performance in some seats.

Leaders also criticized senior leaders for failing to coordinate effectively with district and mandal level leaders to garner voter support. Some leaders were accused of being overconfident and underestimating the opposition.
