The Congress party in Karimnagar is aiming to win the Parliament seat currently held by the BJP. They are conducting a special exercise to choose their candidate for this position.

There are reports that Congress is planning to conduct a survey on the candidacies of former MLA Praveen Reddy, Velichala Rajender Rao, and Teenmar Mallanna who are all vying for the seat.

A team of MLAs and Minister Pannam Prabhakar recently visited CM A Revanth Reddy to discuss potential candidates. It was suggested that either Rajender Rao or Praveen Reddy should be given the MP ticket.

The CM is closely monitoring the constituency as it is considered a key seat. The main competitors so far are Bandi Sanjay from BJP and Boinapally Vinod Kumar from BRS. Rajender Rao and Praveen Reddy are seen as strong contenders for the Congress ticket.

There was a last-minute addition of Mallanna’s name for consideration, surprising many as the focus was on Rajender or Praveen Reddy. There is also talk of actress Vijayashanti being considered for the ticket.

BRS has already announced BC candidates for six out of 17 seats in the state, while BJP has given tickets to BCs for five seats. Congress has announced candidates for 13 seats but only three are BCs.

Congress is under pressure to allocate the Karimnagar ticket to a BC candidate to prevent them from moving away from the party due to fewer BC candidates being fielded by Congress compared to other parties.
