Telangana High Court heard nine cases from candidates who failed the Group-1 Main exam. These individuals, including Parmesh Matta, requested a judicial review of the exam process. Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao has reserved the decision.
Senior lawyers Vidya Sagar, KS Murthy, and Rachna argued that the TGPSC mishandled the exam, breaking rules and lacking transparency. Vidya Sagar highlighted procedural errors, such as not publishing all instructions in the Gazette and not explaining the evaluation process properly.
Rachna pointed out issues with hall-ticket numbers causing confusion and unqualified evaluators grading Telugu medium papers, leading to a lower pass rate for Telugu candidates compared to English (18% vs. 30%). The use of biometric systems and CCTV surveillance was also questioned.
In a separate case, Justice Kunuru Lakshman reserved orders on a petition by CM A Revanth Reddy to dismiss legal proceedings from a complaint by Kasam Venkateswarlu of the BJP. The complaint stemmed from Reddy’s remarks at a public meeting suggesting the BJP would scrap certain reservations if in power. Reddy’s lawyer argued the complaint was invalid as it lacked official consent from the BJP.
The Telangana High Court also addressed a PIL regarding government land encroachment in Hyderguda. The court issued notices to several officials, requiring responses within two weeks. P Sridhar Reddy, representing the Erraboda Weaker Section Colony Welfare Association, reported illegal construction on the land. The case was postponed for further review, demanding government action to protect the property.
