Hyderabad authorities have decided to adopt a strict zero-tolerance policy on drunk driving. Senior IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar has made strong statements, equating those who drive under the influence to terrorists. He believes their actions on roads are as dangerous as any terrorist act.
He highlighted a tragic incident in Kurnool where a bus accident claimed 20 lives. According to Sajjanar, this was not just an accident but a result of reckless behavior by a biker, B. Shiva Shankar, who lost control due to intoxication. This incident was captured on CCTV, showing the biker refueling at a petrol station at 2:24 AM, with the tragic accident occurring shortly after at 2:39 AM.
Sajjanar expressed deep concern over the biker’s irresponsibility, which devastated numerous families in an instant. He stated, “Those who drive drunk are no different from terrorists. They destroy lives, families, and futures. We will never tolerate such actions.”
Going forward, Sajjanar announced that Hyderabad will enforce a zero-tolerance approach towards drunk driving. Anyone caught driving under influence will face the full force of the law. He emphasized there would be no leniency or exceptions for those endangering innocent lives. Sajjanar urged society to stop viewing drunk driving as a mere mistake, insisting it is a crime that ruins lives and deserves appropriate punishment.
