Hyderabad: Thousands of people gathered on Sunday to see the famous Khairtabad Bada Ganesh pandal one last time before its closure. Due to the large crowd, the area experienced a stampede-like situation, and traffic was heavily disrupted near Khairtabad and Tank Bund.
The main roads in these areas came to a complete halt because of the rush of devotees. Many vehicles were stuck in traffic jams in places like Khairatabad, Panjagutta, and Lakdi-ka-Pul. The roads from Khairtabad to Panjagutta were especially congested. The police advised commuters to use alternative routes to avoid the traffic.
The heart of the city was packed with people. Men, women, and children stood in long lines to catch a glimpse of the iconic ‘Sri Saptamuka Maha Shakthi Ganapathi’ idol, which is celebrating its 70th year anniversary.
