The Cyberabad Police has launched a public awareness campaign encouraging citizens to assist road accident victims without fear of legal complications. The initiative highlights the Central Government Good Samaritan Scheme, which provides both legal protection and financial rewards to individuals who come forward to help injured persons on roads.

Under this scheme, any person who assists a road accident victim will be recognized as a Good Samaritan and will receive a cash reward of ₹5,000. The scheme aims to address the common hesitation among bystanders who avoid helping accident victims due to concerns about police interrogation and legal entanglements.

The Cyberabad Police has clarified that Good Samaritans will face no legal consequences for their humanitarian act. No police cases will be filed against them, and they will not be subjected to any civil or legal issues. The scheme provides complete legal protection to ensure that helpers are not harassed or questioned unnecessarily by authorities.

Citizens are advised to take injured persons to the nearest hospital for primary treatment immediately after an accident. The scheme emphasizes that prompt medical attention can be the difference between life and death for accident victims. Bystanders should prioritize getting the injured to medical facilities without delay.

The Good Samaritan law was introduced to combat the widespread problem of accident victims being left unattended on roads due to public fear of legal troubles. Studies have shown that many accident deaths occur not from the initial impact but from delayed medical treatment, often because passersby refuse to help.

The Central Government Good Samaritan Scheme was notified by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to encourage public participation in saving lives. The scheme protects helpers from being forced to disclose personal information or appear as witnesses unless absolutely necessary for the investigation.
