Hyderabad: Over the weekend, Cyberabad traffic police caught 329 people for drunk driving during a special operation.
The police increased checks for drunk driving in the Cyberabad Commissionerate area. They focused on identifying and stopping drivers under the influence.
Out of those caught, police identified 248 as two-wheeler drivers, 23 as three-wheeler drivers, 54 as four-wheeler drivers, and 4 as heavy vehicle drivers.
Police reports show that 83 people had Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 37 had BAC levels from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml. Nine individuals had BAC levels from 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml. All offenders will face the Court.
Cyberabad Police emphasized that driving after drinking is a major violation. They warned that causing a deadly accident while drunk could lead to charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. This charge, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, could lead to up to 10 years in prison and a fine. The Cyberabad Traffic Police urges everyone to drive safely and protect road users.
