A party with semi-nude dancing, known as a ‘mujra party’, was raided by the Cyberabad police on Tuesday. The event was held at a farmhouse in Moinabad, near Hyderabad. Although it was said to be a birthday celebration, police believe it was an illegal gathering.
The raid was carried out by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) along with the Moinabad police. During the raid, officers found 70 grams of marijuana and several liquor bottles at the venue. The women at the party had reportedly been hired to perform dance routines, and the attendees were men between the ages of 25 and 38.
A police officer from the Moinabad station said that marijuana was found among the guests and that the women were performing semi-nude dances. The five women were taken into custody and sent to a government rescue home. Meanwhile, 14 men were arrested and are currently being questioned.
The police have filed a case under Section 144(2) of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses the exploitation of trafficked people, including for sexual purposes. They also included charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Telangana Excise Act.
