The National Institute for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) received the Development Leadership Award 2023 from the Agriculture Today Group on December 21. This award recognizes NIRDPR’s exceptional work that has positively impacted the lives of many rural people. The selection committee, led by former Chief Justice of India, Justice P Sathasivam, chose NIRDPR for this award.
NIRDPR serves as a think-tank for the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Its main focus is on improving the quality of life in rural India through research, knowledge creation, capacity building, and development interventions. The institution promotes sustainability through its programs, which include conserving resources, improving resource use efficiency, building resilience in rural communities, promoting responsible governance, and supporting rural livelihoods.
NIRDPR has also played a significant role in the design, implementation, and monitoring of key government development programs. The award was presented to NIRDPR by Arjun Munda, Minister of Tribal Affairs and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, during the Agriculture Leadership Conclave held in New Delhi on December 21. The event was presided over by former Chief Justice of India, Justice P Sathasivam.
