A group of young people from Hyderabad are spreading happiness and positivity by giving free pre-dawn meals, called Sehri, to people who are having a difficult time. The meals are given to people who are staying in hospitals, hostels, and working at ATMs and petrol pumps. The group is called ‘Youths of Golconda’ and they have been doing this service since 2018. Their goal is to spread happiness and positivity to those who are going through tough times.
The holy month of Ramzan is a time for reflection and religious observance. The group’s initiative is helping to make it more meaningful for those who may be struggling with the challenges of arranging Sehri meals. For people who are attending to patients in hospitals, observing the holy month can be especially challenging, especially if they are far away from their homes and families.
The group consists of 15 members who provide free meals, especially in hospitals. They distribute around 200-250 meals a day during Sehri time without causing any chaos. They have distributed around 5,000 Sehri meals so far. The group provides hot meals to attendants and staff in government hospitals like Golconda and Nampally, as well as private hospitals like Premier, Olive, Salama, Majestic, and Humanity.
The meals consist of Hyderabadi dishes like Bagarakhana-dalcha, Khorma, Tahari, rice, Daal, and Sabzi. The group also provides meals to Muslims who are working at petrol pumps and ATMs. The group’s initiative is a testament to the power of community and compassion. It shows that even a small gesture can go a long way in making someone’s day a little brighter.
