Hyderabad, April 26: Telangana’s Women Safety Wing Director General of Police Shikha Goel addressed the Indian Administrative Service Officers’ Wives’ Association of Telangana (IASOWA) as the Chief Guest during the launch of their official social media handles on 22nd April, delivering an insightful session on cybersecurity and online safety.
During a fireside chat with the members, DGP Goel shared critical insights on the evolving landscape of cybercrime and emphasized the need for cyber hygiene among all internet users. She discussed how innovative initiatives like CYCAPS (Cyber Crime Awareness and Prevention Strategy) and SAMANVAYA are playing a pivotal role in strengthening cybercrime investigations across Telangana.
Addressing the growing risks in the digital world, she warned attendees about emerging cyber threats such as digital arrest scams, phishing attacks, risks from public Wi-Fi, and the rising menace of deepfake content. “Cyber safety starts with awareness and informed practices,” she stressed.
DGP Goel urged citizens to adopt safer online habits like using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), and staying alert while sharing personal data online. “In today’s interconnected world, your digital identity is as important as your real one. Protect it,” she added.
The IASOWA members expressed appreciation for the informative session and pledged to amplify awareness about cyber safety through their new social media platforms.
