Dhoomimal Gallery, the oldest modern art gallery in India, is hosting the 34th Annual Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation Exhibition and Awards 2025. This event celebrates contemporary Indian art and supports talented artists. Smt. Uma Jain started this initiative in 1991 to honor her late husband, Ravi Jain (1936–2000), a key figure in transforming New Delhi’s art scene. Now led by Uday Jain, their son and Director of Dhoomimal Gallery, the awards continue to nurture new talent and influence Indian art’s future.
The exhibition opens on September 29, 2025, showcasing over 120 selected works. It will run until October 15, 2025. On October 14, four artists will be announced as winners of the 34th Annual Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation Awards. Each winner receives ₹1,00,000 and ongoing support, highlighting their creativity and contributions to contemporary art.
Uday Jain emphasized the gallery’s mission to support emerging artists and build a vibrant art ecosystem in India. Each year, over 600 entries nationwide reflect diverse contemporary art forms, such as paintings, sculptures, and digital creations. This year, around 60 artists will exhibit, with four chosen as winners.
For over 30 years, the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation (RJMF) Awards have been crucial for new artists, providing recognition at key career stages. Many past winners, including Hemraj, G. R. Iranna, Nidhi Agarwal, Sonia Khurana, and M. S. C. Satya Sai, have become influential figures in Indian contemporary art.
A distinguished panel will select the winners, including Vibha Galhotra, Rekha Rodwittiya, Anish Gawande, Arunkumar H.G., and Ina Puri. This jury not only chooses winners but also promotes innovative practices, contributing to the growth of India’s contemporary art landscape.
Ravi Jain stressed the importance of nurturing fresh talent for the art movement to thrive. Inspired by this vision, the foundation is committed to discovering and supporting new artists across India.
Founded in 1936, Dhoomimal Gallery has been a pioneering force in Indian modern art. Under Ravi Jain’s leadership, it became a symbol of Indian modernism, creating lasting platforms for artists. Now, under Uday Jain, the gallery continues this legacy by connecting audiences with significant voices in Indian art through exhibitions, initiatives, and awards.
