The Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency prepares for a crucial bypoll as the campaign period officially closes at 5 PM on Sunday. This election has drawn unprecedented attention from major political parties across Telangana.
Voters will head to polling stations on November 11, with results announced three days later on November 14. The electoral process began after BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath passed away in June following a heart attack.
Three main candidates are competing for the seat. Deepak Reddy represents the BJP, while Sunita, the late MLA’s widow, campaigns for BRS. The ruling Congress party has nominated Naveen Yadav, who enjoys backing from Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has made this bypoll a priority, spending several days campaigning personally in the constituency. This level of involvement from a sitting chief minister in a by-election is rarely seen in Telangana politics.
The Congress leadership has mobilized its entire cabinet for the campaign. All party ministers are actively supporting Naveen Yadav’s candidacy across different areas of Jubilee Hills.
Opposition parties have also launched intensive campaigns. Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy and Union MoS Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar are leading BJP efforts. Senior BRS leader K T Rama Rao has been conducting daily campaign activities including street rallies and public meetings.
Campaign strategies include traditional padayatras, colorful road shows, and community gatherings at street corners. These activities have energized voters throughout the constituency.
Local authorities have implemented strict liquor restrictions to ensure fair polling. Alcohol sales will be banned from 6 PM on November 9 until 6 PM on polling day. The prohibition extends to counting day, starting 6 AM on November 14 until vote counting concludes.
This bypoll represents a significant test for all three major parties in one of Hyderabad’s most watched constituencies.
