The YSRCP has announced Budi Mutyala Naidu as their candidate for the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat. This decision came after a delay in naming the candidate, with the party waiting to see who the opposition would choose first. Initially, they were looking to nominate a candidate from the backward community, but ultimately decided on Naidu, who currently serves as the sitting MLA for Madugu.
Naidu belongs to the Koppula Velama community, which is prominent in the region. The BJP had named CM Ramesh as their candidate for the seat, and with Peela Rama Kumari expressing disinterest in running, the YSRCP sought a winning candidate. Naidu’s selection is expected to have a positive impact on the votebank of all the Assembly constituencies under the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat.
In addition to Naidu’s candidacy, Eerli Anuradha has been chosen as the YSRCP MLA candidate for the Madugula seat. Anuradha is Naidu’s daughter. The party’s game plan of delaying the announcement of their candidate for the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat has now come to an end with Naidu being selected for the role.
