Experts have warned that a strong earthquake might occur near Ramagundam in Telangana. They believe the tremors could also be felt in nearby cities like Hyderabad, Warangal, and Amaravati.
The Earthquake Research and Analysis organization has predicted a major earthquake in the region. However, no official government sources have confirmed this prediction yet.
Officials explain that accurately predicting earthquakes is very difficult. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are located in areas that are considered to have low to moderate earthquake risk.
There have been small earthquakes in these areas in the past. For example, a 5.1 magnitude quake struck Ongole in 1969. In 1998, a 4.5 magnitude tremor occurred in Adilabad. Hyderabad also felt minor earthquakes in 1984, 1999, and 2013. Thankfully, none of these caused serious damage.
Authorities are asking people to stay alert, but they also say there is no need to panic, as the current prediction has not been confirmed.
