The Election Commission of India has banned former Telangana Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao for 48 hours starting from 8 pm today. This ban was imposed in response to derogatory and objectionable statements made by Rao against the Congress during a campaign rally in Sircilla.

The ECI had issued notices to KCR after a complaint was filed by Congress leader Niranjan, accusing KCR of using derogatory language against the party candidates. KCR was given 24 hours to reply, but he requested one week to respond. As a result, the ECI decided to impose a 48-hour ban on KCR from campaigning.

The ban comes after KCR’s alleged derogatory remarks against Congress candidates during a campaign rally in Sircilla. This action was taken by the ECI following a complaint filed by Congress leader Niranjan. KCR was given 24 hours to respond, but he requested more time, leading to the 48-hour ban on his campaigning activities.
