The Election Commission of India has allowed the live telecast of Sri Rama Kalyanam, a religious event, with restrictions. The State government had requested special permission due to the Model Code of Conduct in place. After being denied once, the government made a formal request again on April 6.

Earlier in the day, the PCC’s Election Commission Coordination Committee chairman urged the ECI for live telecast with limitations. He highlighted the importance of the event and the desire of devotees to witness it through live telecast. He suggested that only the Kalyana Mandapam and Kalyanam rituals should be focused on during the telecast, avoiding showing the public, politicians, and VIPs.

The request was made to the Chief Election Commissioner, emphasizing that this event is eagerly awaited by devotees worldwide. The Congress leader proposed that the District Election Officer should supervise the live telecast arrangements to ensure compliance with restrictions.
