A decision by the Election Commission to allow the live telecast of ‘Sitharma Kalyanam’ on Sri Rama Navami brought relief to Hindu organizations and the BJP in Hyderabad.

On Tuesday evening, Hindu organizations and the BJP Legal Cell took action against the reported decision of the Election Commission by filing a motion in the State High Court.

A senior BJP leader expressed concerns about the decision being kept secret from the public by the State government, Endowments department, and the EC.

Since Wednesday was a public holiday for Rama Navami, the court was not in session. A motion was filed before the Chief Justice’s court in response.

VHP leaders decided to challenge the ban on live telecast in court, but time constraints due to the morning ritual posed a challenge.

The situation arose from the State government reportedly seeking clarification from the EC on technical grounds.
