Hyderabad Metro Plans New Stations for Future City Project

Hyderabad Metro is planning to build two new metro stations at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda. This is part of a project to improve public transport and reduce travel time to Future City. Once completed, people will be able to travel from the airport to Future City in just 40 minutes.

On Sunday, Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, along with other senior officials, inspected the proposed metro corridor. The inspection was part of the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the metro line from the airport to the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet.

NVS Reddy explained that the metro route from Shamshabad airport to Future City will be around 40 km long. It will begin at the airport terminal, pass through a proposed metro rail depot, and follow the airport boundary wall for about 5 km along Mansanpally Road. The route will then reach Pedda Golconda ORR Exit. To support the development of 1,500 acres of government land at Bahadurguda, two metro stations will be built at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda.

From Pedda Golconda Exit, the metro will continue as an elevated corridor for about 14 km along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Tukkuguda Exit and then to Raviryala Exit. From Raviryala Exit to Skill University at Meerkhanpet, the metro will be built at road level along a 100-meter-wide Green Field Road developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The metro tracks will be placed in the middle of this road, with three-lane roads on both sides and additional service roads.

Once completed, the metro corridor will allow commuters to reach Future City from the airport quickly and efficiently. The Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) is preparing the DPR as part of the Telangana Government’s vision to develop Future City as a pollution-free green city.
