Wanaparthy: District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ravula Giridhar opened a new gym at the District Armed Police Headquarters on Friday. He and several officers and staff from different police departments in the district participated in exercise activities during the event.
SP Giridhar mentioned that while the gym currently has only basic equipment, more advanced machines will soon be added. He encouraged police personnel to include regular exercise in their morning and evening routines. Staying fit, he said, helps officers do their jobs better and builds trust with the public.
He warned that avoiding exercise can lead to health problems, even at a young age. Common issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid conditions can be prevented with regular physical activity. Giridhar advised everyone to make fitness a priority.
The SP also encouraged the general public to go on morning and evening walks and use any fitness tools they have. He especially stressed the importance of self-defence training for women and suggested that girls learn martial arts like karate from a young age. This, he said, empowers them to protect themselves in dangerous situations.
Finally, he announced that the new gym equipment at the SP office is now ready for use. He urged AR police, civil police, and other staff to make full use of the new fitness facility.
