Farmers in Macharla village of Gattu mandal recently protested against the ongoing power cuts that have been affecting their crops for the past 15 days. The farmers set up a tent outside the Electricity Substation in Macharla village to express their concerns because the electricity officials were not taking their complaints seriously. The farmers reported that their crops, including groundnut, chillies, cotton, and paddy, were drying up due to the lack of rainfall. They had already informed the electricity officials and other operators about the issue, but no action had been taken. The operators were giving inconsistent answers to the farmers regarding the power cuts.

They emphasized that they were not even getting 10 hours of power, which was severely affecting their agricultural activities. In response, the farmers decided to stage a protest against the power cuts. Their primary demand is for the state government to provide at least 20 hours of power as promised.
