The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has announced the launch of electric buses in Hyderabad to make public transport more eco-friendly. Initially, 25 electric buses will be rolled out on Wednesday, with the remaining buses being launched gradually. These buses are part of the new ‘Green Metro Luxury’ AC buses for city passengers.

The launch event will be attended by Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, TSRTC chairman and MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, and TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar near Gachibowli stadium. Out of a total of 50 Green Metro luxury AC services, 25 buses will be made available in the first phase, while the remaining 25 buses will be available by November.

The green luxury AC buses are 12 meters long and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Each bus has a capacity of 35 seats and offers mobile charging facilities and reading lamps. For passenger safety, there is a panic button at every seat and a vehicle tracking system connected to the TSRTC control room. Two CCTV cameras are installed in each bus with a recording backup of one month. The buses also have a reverse parking assistance camera and LED boards displaying destination details.

To enhance safety, fire detection suppression systems have been installed in the buses to detect and prevent fire accidents early. Additionally, there is a public address system to convey information to the passengers.
