On Tuesday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appointed Gellu Srinivas Yadav, the leader of the party’s students wing, as the new chairman of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC). Yadav received his appointment letter from the CM at Pragathi Bhavan.
Yadav has been an active member of the party since 2004 and played a significant role in the Telangana agitation by leading various protest programs. Despite having over 100 cases against him during the separate statehood agitation, Yadav was appointed as the president of the student’s wing of the party, TRSV, in 2017.
Yadav gained popularity when he contested against seven-time MLA Eatala Rajender in Huzurabad in the by-election, which he lost. Party sources stated that the BRS chief decided to change the candidate in Huzurabad in the next election, leading to Yadav’s nomination for the TSTDC chairman post.
Yadav will replace U Srinivas Gupta as the chairman of TSTDC, and his term will be for two years. He will be provided with office accommodation, vehicle, staff, and other amenities by the Tourism Development Corporation.
