Mahabubnagar: Gavinolla Madhusudan Reddy, often called GMR, has made a significant impact in the recent Assembly elections. He defeated the strong BRS candidate, Ala Venkateshwar Reddy. From being a successful lawyer to becoming the MLA of Devarkadra, GMR has worked hard to understand and address the needs of the people.
Born on May 4, 1971, in Dhamangapur village, CC Kunta mandal of Mahabubnagar district, Reddy’s life story is inspiring. His father, Krishna Reddy, taught him the importance of serving society. After finishing school in his village, he went to Hyderabad for further studies. He earned a BA and LLB from Padala Ram Reddy College, graduating in 1998. For many years, he worked as a lawyer in the Hyderabad High Court until 2018.
In 2015, Reddy started the GMR Seva Samithi to help the poor and needy in Devarkadra and Mahabubnagar district. His desire to serve the community led him to join the Indian National Congress in 2018. He saw this as a way to solve more of the community’s problems.
By 2022, Reddy had become the president of the District Congress Committee (DCC) in Mahabubnagar. His hard work in addressing local issues won him a lot of support. This set the stage for his candidacy in the 2023 General Assembly elections, where he ran against the sitting BRS MLA, Ala Venkateshwar Reddy.
The election was tough, but GMR focused on pointing out the failures and corruption of his opponent. His hard work and smart campaigning paid off when he won by 1,392 votes, the first Congress win in Devarkadra in ten years.
Now, as an MLA, GMR is dedicated to developing Devarkadra. With the help of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he is tackling important issues like irrigation, agriculture, industry, education, and social welfare. His leadership goes beyond party lines, focusing on the well-being and progress of his constituency.
GMR’s journey from lawyer to legislator shows his commitment to public service. His story is one of hard work and dedication to improving the lives of the people he represents. He continues to lead with integrity and vision, making him a symbol of hope and progress for Devarkadra.
