Hyderabad is making strides in improving its urban infrastructure. On Tuesday, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan reviewed progress on a crucial 2.58 km four-lane flyover from Nalgonda X Road to Owaisi Junction. He urged officials to speed up construction and tackle land acquisition issues to finish by March 2026.
The inspection included Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and Charminar ZC Venkanna. This flyover is a key part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), aimed at reducing traffic on a busy route. It stretches from the Government Printing Press in Chanchalguda to Yadagiri Theatre via Saidabad and IS Sadan. The project, costing Rs 620 crore, aims to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Commissioner Karnan highlighted the need for both speed and quality in the project. Engineers committed to completing it by the March 2026 deadline. Addressing land acquisition delays, Karnan instructed town planning officials to resolve these quickly. Malakpet DC MK I Ali, Maintenance Executive Engineer Peersing, and Project Executive Engineer Bhupal promised full support and timely delivery.
Later, Karnan checked drainage systems in Dabirpura. He stressed that rainwater should flow freely during the rainy season to prevent flooding in nearby areas.
Commissioner Karnan stated, “The flyover from Nalgonda X Road to Owaisi Junction is crucial for reducing traffic and improving connectivity. We are committed to overcoming obstacles and delivering this infrastructure by March 2026.” These inspections reflect GHMC’s dedication to enhancing urban mobility and infrastructure in Hyderabad.
