In Hyderabad, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, RV Karnan, has instructed Town Planning officials to work more efficiently and quickly process building permission applications. During a review at the GHMC Head Office with Chief City Planner Srinivas, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of accountability and providing services focused on the needs of citizens.
RV Karnan urged officials to speed up the approval of building permissions, occupancy certificates, and the handling of court cases, public complaints, and Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) applications. He also highlighted the necessity of evacuating residents from unsafe and deteriorating buildings promptly to avoid accidents. Unauthorized cellar excavations without approval will face strict action, he warned. Although the Town Planning Wing’s performance has been satisfactory so far, RV Karnan encouraged officials to increase transparency, boost efficiency, and build public trust. The review meeting was attended by Kukatpally Zonal Commissioner Apoorva Chauhan, along with Additional Chief City Planners and Assistant City Planners.
