According to the school management, the demolition took place despite a valid court stay order. GHMC staff reportedly carried out a sudden demolition drive, partially bringing down the school building and throwing out benches and classroom materials while the exams were ongoing.
Teachers pleaded with officials to delay the demolition until after school hours, but their requests were ignored. Witnesses said that children were terrified as bulldozers moved in, creating chaos during the examinations.
The school management strongly condemned the move, calling it “illegal and unjust”, and said that demolishing a school during exams is a serious blow to students’ education and future. They added that the institution is now struggling to find an alternative location to continue the remaining exams, leaving hundreds of students in distress.
Local residents and parents have also expressed outrage over the GHMC’s action, labeling it a violation of court orders and an act of blatant injustice.
Community members demanded that the Telangana government and GHMC Commissioner immediately launch an inquiry into the incident and take action against the officials responsible. They also urged authorities to provide temporary facilities so that students’ examinations can resume without further disruption.
This incident has sparked widespread criticism across Hyderabad, with many questioning the timing and legality of the demolition and demanding accountability for the apparent disregard of judicial orders.
