Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, K Ilambarthi, has asked officials to quickly handle complaints from the public. These complaints were shared during the Prajavani programme, a public hearing event held by the GHMC.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of giving priority to the issues faced by the city’s residents. He told the officials to act fast in solving problems and to share any difficulties they face in finding solutions.
On Monday, GHMC received a total of 120 complaints during the Prajavani programme. These were collected both at the GHMC headquarters and from various GHMC circles across the city. The Commissioner personally listened to the public’s concerns, reviewed each issue, and told the officials responsible to take immediate action.
Of the 120 complaints, 41 were received at the GHMC headquarters. Among these, 19 were related to the Town Planning Department, five to the Tax Section, and one complaint each went to the Engineering, Administration, Estates, Vigilance, Veterinary, Finance, and Housing Departments. Additionally, there were three complaints each for the Land Acquisition and Sports Departments.
The remaining 79 complaints came from GHMC’s six zones. The Kukatpally Zone had the highest number with 38 complaints. Secunderabad and Serilingampally Zones each had 13, LB Nagar Zone had 10, Charminar Zone received four, and Khairtabad Zone received one.
The Prajavani phone-in programme also received four calls. These requests were sent to the relevant departments for action.
Several senior officials attended the programme, including Additional Commissioners Shivakumar Naidu, Venugopal, Raghu Prasad, Chandrakanth Reddy, Venugopal Reddy, and Geetha Radhika. Others present included Additional CCP Pradeep, Water Works GM Sai Ramana, Deputy CEO Panasa Reddy Sunanda, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Abdul Vakeel, Valuation Officer Mahesh Kulkarni, and UBD Director Venkateswar Rao.
