Hyderabad: A lift accident at an apartment building in Asif Nagar injured three people on Sunday night. The incident happened at Naco Shams Residency.
According to residents, six people, including three children, got into the lift on the fifth floor. As the lift went down, it suddenly dropped at high speed and crashed to the ground floor.
Hearing the loud crash, other residents quickly came to help. They rescued all six people trapped inside. The three adults had serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. Thankfully, the children were not hurt.
Majid Hussain, the MLA from Nampally representing AIMIM, visited the site after hearing about the accident. The Asif Nagar police have started an investigation to find out what caused the lift to fail. This incident raises more concerns about the safety of lifts and building maintenance.
Just last month, in a similar tragedy, a four-and-a-half-year-old boy died in Mehdipatnam. The boy, Surender, was the son of a security guard at an apartment in Santosh Nagar Colony. He was playing when he tried to enter a lift with collapsible doors and got stuck. He was taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
