GHMC Launches Online Property Tax Services in Hyderabad: Check New Features, How to Apply & Track Status

0

Hyderabad, July 3, 2025 — In a significant move towards improving civic convenience and digital governance, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched six essential property tax services online, allowing homeowners to access and update their property details without visiting MeeSeva centers or municipal offices.

This new initiative aims to simplify property tax processes and reduce the waiting time involved in approvals and corrections. The digitized services are now live on the official GHMC portal and can be accessed with a few clicks from any device.

Online Services Now Available:

  1. Assessment Revision

  2. Vacancy Remission (for unoccupied properties)

  3. Owner Name Correction

  4. Door Number Correction

  5. Assessment Exemption – Applicable to categories like ex-servicemen and certain religious institutions

  6. Self-Assessment of Property Tax

These features are designed to enhance transparency and provide Hyderabad residents with more control over their property-related data.

How It Works:

Property owners can log in to the GHMC portal by entering their Property Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and mobile number. After receiving a One-Time Password (OTP) for secure authentication, users can access the services.

Required documents such as sale deeds, tax receipts, building permissions, or ID proofs can be uploaded directly to the portal. Applications are digitally forwarded to the GHMC revenue department for verification.

Citizens can track application status online, and regular updates will be sent via SMS or email. In some cases, GHMC may initiate field verification before completing the requested changes.

Officials Speak:

A GHMC official stated, “The goal is to make property tax-related services fast, paperless, and citizen-friendly. By empowering people to make changes online, we are saving time for both residents and municipal staff while enhancing accountability.”

Why It Matters:

With Hyderabad’s rapidly growing urban population, property tax issues have long been a source of complaints, particularly due to long queues at MeeSeva centers, manual errors, and slow processing times. This online service is expected to streamline administration, ensure accurate assessments, and reduce corruption or delays caused by human intervention.

Residents across GHMC limits are encouraged to utilize the new system and regularly check the portal for updates and approvals.

This move places GHMC alongside other progressive urban local bodies in India working to deliver e-governance and improve ease of living for citizens.
