GHMC sends SMS to 2.5 million individuals

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sent mass text messages to approximately 25 lakh people in Rangareddy, Medchal, and Hyderabad districts to keep them updated about the rains. The aim was to inform residents about the heavy rains expected in their areas. GHMC officials have taken measures to mitigate risks associated with heavy downpour during the monsoon season. The SMS alerts were part of their initiative to protect residents from adverse effects of rainfall. The civic body used mobile technology to reach a large number of citizens and included information about the expected rainfall and emergency contacts in the messages.
