    Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and N Uttam Kumar Reddy have instructed officials to urgently provide irrigation water to farmers in Nalgonda district. During a review of irrigation projects in the district, the ministers gave directions on how to expedite the completion of these projects.

    Venkat Reddy expressed his disappointment with the previous government’s neglect of Nalgonda irrigation projects. He specifically mentioned the SLBC project, which is mostly finished but has been ignored. Despite discussing the project multiple times in the Assembly, the previous Chief Minister did not respond. However, the Congress government is committed to finishing the Nalgonda irrigation projects.

    Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is from Nalgonda district and serves as the Minister of Irrigation, emphasized the importance of completing the Udaya Samudra Brahmana Vellamula Lift Irrigation Scheme canals. These canals provide irrigation to 100,000 acres. He also stressed the need to address the pending SLBC tunnel works, which were neglected by the previous government. The lack of maintenance has caused an increase in trees and silt in the canals. Repair work is necessary.

    The minister also directed officials to complete lining work this year and ensure water availability. Land acquisition for 50,000 acres will be undertaken in the first phase of the Udaya Samudram project, with another 50,000 acres in the second phase. Canals need to be dug and plans made to provide irrigation water to 100,000 acres of land. The Chief Minister has shown support for Nalgonda district projects, and the ministers will provide necessary assistance.

    To facilitate the first phase of land acquisition for Udaya Samudram, Rs 100 crore will be released, along with another Rs 100 crore for works. Officials were urged to work diligently and complete the first phase within a year, ensuring irrigation for 50,000 acres.
