The Government of Telangana has brought back the Land Regularisation Scheme 2020, which had been delayed due to court cases. The scheme is only applicable to layouts that are not in legal disputes, and does not include Endowment, Waqf, or government lands. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to speed up the process and approve ownership of plots by March 31.

Under the previous government, the LRS applications were accepted for two months in 2020, with a total of 25.44 lakh applications received from different areas. Each applicant paid either Rs 1,000 for small open plots or Rs 10,000 for larger layouts. However, the process was put on hold for four years, leaving applicants waiting for regularisation.

The layouts can only be regularised based on existing rules, benefiting lower and middle class families. Once approved, applicants will have ownership rights on their lands, making it easier to engage in construction activities, seek bank loans, and buy or sell properties.
