Government veterinary hospitals in Hyderabad plagued by poor services

Government veterinary hospitals in Hyderabad plagued by poor services
Text Size: 100%

Pet owners in Hyderabad are struggling to get proper treatment for their animals at government veterinary hospitals. Many of these hospitals have poor services and lack essential medical equipment, like syringes. This means that pet owners have to go to private clinics for help. Some government veterinary hospitals, like the Super Specialty Veterinary Hospital at Narayanguda, are run by the State government, but they still don’t provide enough treatment or have enough equipment. Even basic diagnostic tests aren’t done, so pet owners have to go to private centres for examinations.

Sai Pavan is one of the frustrated pet owners who can’t find simple equipment, like syringes, at the hospital. Instead, they’re told to buy them from private clinics. This makes it hard to see the point of going to a government hospital if they need more equipment from outside places. Shilpa is another pet owner who is disappointed with the services at the Super Specialty Veterinary Hospital at Narayanguda. She had a hard time getting basic medical equipment and even a simple diagnostic test like the Complete Blood Picture (CBP) wasn’t done at the hospital.

Staff members at the hospital say that the problem is that there isn’t an inventory system and there isn’t enough equipment.
