Hyderabad: The State government has started speeding up the distribution of fine rice to people across Telangana. The Civil Supplies Department has already delivered 50% of the rice stock to fair price shops.
On Tuesday, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said that more than half of the rice stock has reached the shops. She added that the remaining rice will be delivered in the next few days. District Collectors have been asked to make sure the rice is of good quality and that the correct amount is given to people.
The Chief Secretary held a video meeting with District Collectors, Additional Collectors, and Civil Supplies Department officials to review the rice distribution progress. She told the Collectors to create a plan, along with local Ministers and MLAs, for distributing the rice at mandal headquarters.
She also said the distribution should feel like a celebration and involve local leaders and the public. The programme, which is considered important by the government, was officially launched by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on the festival of Ugadi.
