HyderabadT Harish Rao, a senior leader from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has strongly criticized the Telangana Congress government for failing to release ₹800 crore meant for college students’ fee reimbursement. He also urged the authorities to conduct the pending final-year degree exams without delay.

Rao accused the government of ignoring students while clearing payments worth thousands of crores to large contractors. He said the state’s negligence has put the future of nearly six lakh students at serious risk.

“This government is playing with students’ lives,” Rao said. “It’s shameful that students now have to plead just to get their exams scheduled. This reflects how poor the current administration is.”

He pointed out that students in their final year are missing out on chances to appear for PGCET, LAWCET, and other competitive exams. According to Rao, the government failed to hold exams scheduled in April across major universities like Kakatiya, Satavahana, Telangana, Mahatma Gandhi, and Palamuru.

Rao compared the current situation with the BRS government’s record. “During our nine and a half years in power, we released ₹19,000 crore for fee reimbursement—about ₹2,000 crore each year. But in the last 17 months, the Congress government hasn’t released even a single rupee,” he said.

He alleged that the Congress government has completely neglected education, making it clear it’s not a priority.

Rao demanded immediate action from the State government. He called for the release of the pending fee reimbursement and the urgent conduct of degree final-year exams. “Fix this now, or students will continue to suffer in silence,” he warned.
