Hyderabad: BRS leader T Harish Rao criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for allegedly betraying Telangana and misleading its citizens.
During a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao questioned Revanth Reddy’s sudden midnight trip to Delhi after previously claiming he would avoid a meeting that included Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project. Despite stating in the Assembly that he would not attend the NITI Aayog meeting, Revanth eventually participated. Harish Rao accused him of inconsistency and called his actions shameful.
Harish Rao noted that Revanth Reddy falsely claimed Banakacharla was not on the meeting agenda when it was actually the first topic. Andhra Pradesh Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu confirmed the discussions and committee formation, contradicting Revanth’s denial. Harish Rao questioned Revanth’s honesty, emphasizing that he was elected to protect Telangana’s interests, not to cater to Andhra Pradesh or Chandrababu Naidu.
Harish Rao demanded an apology from Revanth, accusing him of betraying the people of Telangana. He criticized the Congress government, suggesting it is controlled by the BJP and TDP. He pointed out that the Central Water Commission, GRMB, and Polavaram Project Authority had rejected Banakacharla’s pre-feasibility report. Harish Rao questioned why the meeting was held and why Revanth agreed to a committee, likening it to signing a death warrant for Telangana.
He assured that under K Chandrashekar Rao and BRS, they would resist any injustice to the state, accusing both BJP and Congress of opposing Telangana’s interests. Harish Rao concluded by demanding Revanth apologize unconditionally for this betrayal. He insisted BRS would never accept the Banakacharla project and called for an all-party delegation to visit Delhi, prioritizing the state’s interests above politics.
