Heavy rainfall upstream has caused a large increase in water flow to the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir. To manage this, officials have opened 26 gates to let water flow downstream. The reservoir is now receiving an inflow of 10 lakh cusecs, while releasing 4.06 lakh cusecs.
The reservoir can hold up to 312.04 TMC, and it currently contains 294.55 TMC of water. Authorities are keeping a close watch to control water levels and prevent flooding in nearby regions.
