The recent heavy rains in Telangana have caused a significant increase in the water inflow to the Indira Priyadarshini Jurala Dam in Jogulamba Gadwal. This dam has seen a large rise in the amount of water flowing into it over the past few days.

Currently, the inflow rate is at 65,000 cusecs. As a result, officials have opened five gates of the dam to release 56,865 cusecs of water into the sea.

The higher water levels in the dam have also boosted electricity production. The hydropower stations at upper and lower Jura are now producing 395 MW of electricity across 10 units.

While the heavy rains have brought much-needed relief to the region, authorities are carefully monitoring the situation to ensure the dam’s safety and stability.
