Hyderabad: The Telangana government plans to start a new Heli Tourism service connecting Hyderabad, Somasila, and Srisailam. This initiative is in partnership with the travel company Ease My Trip.
Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao shared this news on Friday during the launch of the Wellness and Spiritual Retreat Project at Somasila, Nallamala, Amaragiri Island, and Eagalapenta. The project costs around Rs 68.10 crore.
The Minister stated that Heli Tourism will soon be a reality in Telangana, marking the beginning of a new tourism concept. The aim is to manage the service effectively to draw more visitors, offering them a unique and enjoyable experience.
Plans are underway to operate this Heli Tourism from Hyderabad to Somasila and Srisailam with Ease My Trip. More details will be revealed soon. On the same day, the Minister also inaugurated other development projects under the Somasila Wellness and Spiritual Retreat (Nallamala), costing Rs 68.10 crore. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Amaragiri Island Wellness Retreat, with development costs of Rs 45.84 crore, in the Kollapur constituency. Additionally, Rs 1.60 crore will be spent on trenching at the Somasila VIP Ghat – Boating Point.
Minister Krishna Rao emphasized that the Telangana government prioritizes tourism by launching several projects. Despite having good conditions for tourism, the sector was overlooked in the past decade. Now, the government aims to boost both domestic and international tourist numbers.
He announced plans for a campaign to attract more foreign tourists. These efforts will create jobs and improve local infrastructure. The government also plans to enhance water sports and adventure tourism. New tourism projects are expected to increase visitor numbers, enhance state revenue, and generate employment. The Minister expressed optimism that once the Somasila–Siddeswaram iconic bridge is completed, tourist visits will significantly rise.
