    Telangana High Court Rejects Mohan Babu’s Bail Plea in Attempted Murder Case

    The Telangana High Court on Monday denied Tollywood actor Mohan Babu’s anticipatory bail request in an attempted murder case. The case was filed against him over an alleged attack on a journalist. Mohan Babu had requested bail, citing health issues. The Rachakonda police had earlier issued a notice asking him to appear for questioning by December 24.

    Mohan Babu’s lawyer informed the court that the actor was in Tirupati. With his bail plea rejected, it remains uncertain whether he will appear before the police on Tuesday or appeal to the Supreme Court for relief.

    The case stems from an incident earlier this month involving a dispute at Mohan Babu’s residence in Jalpally. On December 10, during a chaotic situation reportedly linked to a property dispute with his son, actor Manchu Manoj, an attack on an electronic media journalist occurred. The journalist was at the scene to report on the family conflict.

    Initially, the Rachakonda Police filed a case under Section 118(1) of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing hurt with dangerous weapons. They later added Section 109, which pertains to attempted murder, based on further evidence.

    The journalist, who filed the complaint, accused Mohan Babu of attacking him during the altercation. Video footage showed the actor grabbing the journalist’s microphone and hitting him repeatedly with it. The incident sparked outrage, leading journalists to stage protests demanding stricter action against the actor.

    Following widespread criticism, Mohan Babu met the injured journalist and issued an apology. However, the legal case against him continues, with many awaiting his next step after the High Court’s decision.
