Hyderabad: A criminal case was filed by the Hyderabad Water Board on Friday against an individual who illegally collected money from a water tanker driver working for the board.
The victim, S. Vamsi Krishna, is a private tanker driver working under the Hyderabad Water Board in the Jubilee Hills section. According to officials, a person named Arra Saikumar, also known as Sairam, contacted Vamsi Krishna. Sairam claimed that he worked in the Vigilance Department of the Water Board and accused Vamsi of violating the board’s rules. He demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe.
Later, Sairam collected Rs 3,000 from Vamsi. However, the real vigilance officer of the Water Board found out about the incident and launched an investigation. It was discovered that Arra Saikumar was not a member of the Water Board and had taken the money illegally.
Vamsi Krishna filed a complaint at the Khairatabad police station. A criminal case was then registered against Sairam under sections 308 (2), 318 (4), and 319 (2) of the Indian Penal Code. A senior official from the Water Board warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who tries to damage the board’s reputation.
