The Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Dana Kishore, along with senior officers, inspected the ongoing works of Fatehnagar Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), as well as Khajakunta and Miyapur – Patel Pond STPs. He directed the officials to complete the construction of these STPs within the given time frame.

Kishore emphasized the need to increase the speed of construction work and suggested hiring more workers and teams accordingly. He also emphasized the importance of simultaneously completing all necessary tasks such as inlet, outlet, clamping of machines, and electrical work. Special arrangements are being made to prevent any unpleasant odors from the STPs being constructed near residential areas, and foreign technology is being utilized for this purpose.

In the GHMC area, approximately 1,650 million gallons of sewage are generated daily. Currently, 772 million gallons of sewage are treated through 25 existing STPs. To treat the remaining 878 million gallons of sewage, the State government has initiated the construction of 31 new STPs. Under three packages within Greater Hyderabad, a total of Rs 3,866.41 crore has been allocated to ensure 100% sewage treatment in the city on a daily basis. These STPs are being constructed in all five circles of the city. Once completed, they will have the capacity to treat 1257.50 million liters per day of sewage.

These efforts are part of the HMWSSB’s commitment to improving water supply and sewage management in Hyderabad.
